I was born in Imphal, Manipur, a small state in the northeastern part of India. I started my primary education at Don Bosco, Imphal and later, completed my high school from Tiny Tots' Unique School, Imphal.

I completed my ‘Bachelor of Science’ from Modern College, Imphal in 1998 with physics as the main subject and in 2000, I completed my ‘Master of Science’ in Physics from M. S. University, Baroda with specialization in Nuclear and Particles physics. Then, in 2001, I was selected for the prestigious Training School of the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai, a one year training program for the recruitment of Research Scientists at various research institutes in India. I was one among the ten students in physics selected from all over India for the training.

From 2002 to March 2009, I worked as a Research Scientist at the Astrophysical Sciences Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai. Then, in April 2009, I moved to the Netherlands to pursue a PhD in Astroparticle Physics. I completed my PhD in March 2012 (formal defense was on 12th June 2012) from the Department of Astrophysics, Radboud University Nijmegen under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Jörg R. Hörandel, and from May 2012 onwards, I am working as a postdoctoral researcher at the same institute.

During my stay in Mumbai, I worked on gamma-ray astronomy with the
TACTIC and MACE Cherenkov telescopes. My main contributions were in the data analysis for TACTIC and in the simulation studies for MACE. During the same time, I also started working on theoretical studies on the propagation of cosmic rays and the production of high-energy diffuse emission in the Galaxy.

After moving to Nijmegen, I work on cosmic-ray measurements with
LOFAR, an astronomical radio telescope built in the Netherlands and its neighboring countries. My main contribution to the LOFAR cosmic-ray studies is the LORA experiment, a particle detector array which I built during my PhD. Along with the experimental activities, I also work on theoretical studies of cosmic rays such as their propagation in the Galaxy and the nature of their sources. My PhD thesis entitled "Propagation of cosmic rays in the Galaxy and their measurements at very high energies with LORA" comprises both my work on LORA and on cosmic-ray propagation. More details about my present research activities can be found in Research .
