Studying at the Astrophysics department

Astrophysics is the study of the universe at large: this includes planets, stars, black holes, galaxies and the largest structures in the universe. The universe is a place where exciting new discoveries are made at a continuous rate. At the same time, it is a gigantic laboratory for testing physics, chemistry and (in the future) biology, under extreme circumstances not reproducible on Earth.

Vacancies in the PR4 Student Team

Are you interested in doing a hands-on research project, do you have affinity with space flight, or do you want to boost your project management skills? We, the PR4 student team, could have a project that interests you! PR4 stands for Payload for Radiation measurement and Radio-interferometry in Rockets Revisited.  We are a team of students mainly from the Eindhoven University of Technology and the Radboud University. We are developing two experiments for the REXUS rocket. REXUS is a program that allows European student teams to fly experiments on a rocket that reaches 80 km altitude. It is an initiative of the Swedish National Space Agency (SNSA) and Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR). Our student team has been selected by ESA to launch from Esrange, Sweden in March 2024. Currently, we are looking for students to help develop our two experiments, in a wide range of topics and skill sets (mechanical engineering, software development, outreach, project management).

Do you want to join us in our mission to prepare for the 2024 launch?
