Onderzoek / Research

My main research interest is transients.

In particular, I used the Galactic Bulge Survey X-ray+optical data to identify the optical counterparts to the ~1600 X-ray sources in the Galactic Bulge. We also used colour-colour diagrams to identify interesting X-ray sources (potentially containing a compact object), and the spectroscopic follow up of these sources is ongoing.

My interest in TDEs focusses on their observational study through optical/UV/X-ray photometry and spectroscopy, as well as the study of their host galaxies and environments.

Finally, I am also a member of the Gaia DPAC consortium. Here we are developing a pipeline to use Gaia's per-CCD photometry and simultaneous (very low resolution) spectroscopy to identify transients on very short timescales (~minute / hours).
